Duane A. Olson, 66, of Wilton passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 7, 1949, to Chester and Agnes (Thayer) Olson in Sparta. He was a member of the Royall High School graduating class of 1967. On June 7, 1975, Duane was married to Sharon Williams in Norwalk. Duane worked as a patrolman for the Monroe County Highway Department for close to 28 years. He also farmed for several years on Dorset Ridge. He was a past president of the Wilton Rod and Gun Club. Duane was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both fishing and hunting. He also pulled tractors in various local tractor pulls. In his spare time, he loved shooting pool and afternoon rides on his Harley. One thing that was guaranteed to bring a smile to his face was his four beloved grandchildren; spending time with them were times well spent and cherished by Duane. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Wilton; his children, Theresa (Stephen) Gagliardi of Sellersville, Penn., Todd (partner Alicia Defliger) Olson of Wilton, and Tracy (Joseph) Stahl of Rosemount, Minn.; four grandchildren, Stephen and Trent Gagliardi and Daniel and Chelsey Stahl; and his brothers and sisters, Arlene (Gene) Greeno of Camp Douglas, Shirley (Tom) Jahn of Tomahawk, Wis., Gary (Yvonne) Olson of Hustler, Joann Waege of Leon and Cherlyn (Don) Moseley of Warrens. He is further survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Travis Olson; a brother, Larry Olson; a sister, Marlys Waege; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Waege.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Pastor Kristin Wendland will officiate. Burial will be in the Home Cemetery in rural Ontario.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation Friday at the funeral home from 4–8 p.m. and on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
