Irene Timmerman, 94, of Viroqua and Ontario passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Bethel Home in Viroqua.
Irene was born Jan. 20, 1917, in rural Ontario to Earnest and Pansy (Worthington) DeWitt. She was married to Delbert Timmerman from Jan. 28, 1939, until his death in 1979.
Irene graduated from nursing school in La Crosse and worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Bland in Westby and Dr. Ottersen in Cashton. She also worked at hospitals in Hillsboro, Sparta and Viroqua. She finished her career working at the Tomah Veteran’s Hospital. She was a wonderful, caring and compassionate person who was always willing to help someone in need.
Irene is survived by two sons, Mark (Joann) Timmerman of Sussex, Wis., and their children, Aaron (Laura) Timmerman of Germantown, Wis., and Ashley (Greg) Kuetner of Pewaukee, Wis., and Steve (Connie) Timmerman of Rice Lake, Wis., and their children, Kelly (Michael) Trulen of Marshfield, Wis., and Kim (Loren) Jesch of Hammond, Wis.; four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Ethan Trulen and Braydon and Levi Jesch; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; her parents; her sisters, Emogene Brandau and Leona Rynes; and her brothers, Bill, Glen, James and Otis DeWitt.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Torkelson Funeral Home, Ontario, with Pastor Bruce Milleman officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Rest Cemetery, Ontario.
Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
