Evelyn K. Walz, 87, of Yorkville, Ill., passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 22, 1927, near Norwalk to Joseph and Olga (Petzke) Schmitz.

Evelyn was united in marriage April 27, 1948, to Mr. George Alan Walz, and they spent the next 67 happy years together. Mrs. Walz was employed for 25 years as the office manager at the Elmhurst Chicago Stone Company in Bolingbrook, lll. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville and a former member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Raphael Catholic Church, both in Naperville, Ill. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, George Alan Walz of Yorkville; her children, Wayne (C. Kathleen) Walz of Manhattan, Ill., Kathryn (Steven) Graves of Downers Grove, Ill., Marilyn (Larry) Jordan of Somonauk, Ill., Alan (Susan) Walz of Oswego, Ill., Beverly (Richard) Olin of Oswego, Ill., and Donna (Scott) Makowsky of Oswego, Ill.; her 13 grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lorraine (James) Bardeen of Bangor and Evangeline (William) Burch of Franksville, Wis.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Olga Schmitz; her son, Ronald Walz; her brother, Lavern Schmitz; and her sister, Coletta Schrier.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut St., Yorkville, with Father Matthew Lamoureux, MIC, officiating. Interment will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Naperville, Ill.

Visitation will begin with the praying of the rosary at 3:30 p.m. and will continue until 8 p.m. Friday, May 15, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in rural Norwalk, with a luncheon following the service.
