Grace M. Nohr, 97, of Westby and formerly of rural La Farge died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby.
She was born Feb. 25, 1912, in the town of Jefferson to Oscar and Sarah (Alton) Williams. On June 8, 1940, Grace was united in marriage to Lloyd Nohr in Cashton. Together they worked the homestead farm in 24 Valley near Dell, Wis., for many years. After retirement, they moved to Westby, and in recent years, Grace received wonderful care at the Norseland Nursing Home.
Grace loved to bake and work in her large garden. She also was a very active volunteer at Bethany Sandhill Church, where she was involved with various ladies’ groups and helped with the annual Lutefisk dinner for many years. After moving to Westby in retirement, she continued to support the work of Bethany Church. Grace was a very gracious host and always wanted to share her baking and coffee when people stopped to visit. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Grace is survived by her half brother, Rodger Williams of Florida, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd in 2001; her parents, Oscar and Sarah; four brothers, Earl Williams, Ira Williams, Edgar Williams and Daniel Williams; three sisters, Luella Kirking, Bernice Hutchens and Pearl Williams; and one half brother, Duane Williams.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at Bethany Sandhill Church in rural La Farge. Pastor Tim Johnston will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 a.m. until services Saturday at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
