Margaret C. Hansen, 93, of Norwalk passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta.

She was born Oct. 17, 1921, to Hubert and Mary (Doll) Fuenger in Norwalk. On July 22, 1940, she was united in marriage to Arthur Hansen at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Norwalk. Margaret and Art farmed in the Cashton and Sparta area before purchasing a farm on St. Mary’s Ridge. In 1970, they retired and moved to a hobby farm on County Highway T near Norwalk. They moved into Norwalk in June 2000. 

Margaret belonged to the Marybells Homemakers and was an active member of St. Augustine and St. Mary’s Catholic Church PCCW groups, for which she loved teaching CCD for 20-plus years. She was an amazing baker; apple pies were her specialty. She loved to crochet afghans, make quilts and be surrounded by her whole family.

She is survived by her 10 children, Eugene (Dena) Hansen, Richard (Linda) Hansen, Joe (Carolyn) Hansen and Ernest (Elaine) Hansen, Marie Wiedl, Caroline Pieper, Darlene (Jerry) Wedemeier, Joyce (Charles) Ziegler, Ann Schreier, and Catherine (Charles) Neumann; 55 grandchildren; 107 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Thelma Fuenger, Marcella Schmitz, Helen Heiser and Barbara Hansen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, in 2005; her parents, Hubert and Mary; an infant son, Thomas; an infant daughter, Mary; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law, Gerald Schreier, Anthony Wiedl and Paul Pieper; four brothers, Frederick, Ernest, Leo, and Joe Fuenger; and two sisters, Marcella Schreier and Martha Pottinger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 4–7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday. The Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
