Ferne Schroeder, 86, of Kendall passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
She was born May 9, 1928, to Miles and Vernice (Tracy) Ward in the town of Wonewoc, Juneau County, Wisconsin. Ferne graduated from New Lisbon High School and later from the Madison Business College.
Ferne was united in marriage to Carl F. Schroeder on Sept. 30, 1950. They made their home in Kendall, and she worked as a legal secretary for 35 years and for many of those years for Attorney Wallace Brady.
She was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kendall and of the International Carnival Glass Association, both of which Carl and Ferne were very active in.
Ferne was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl, on Nov. 4, 2012.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 297 E. South Railroad St., Kendall, with Rev. Steve Neuman officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Kendall. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10–11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kendall or the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation.
