Monroe County citizens:

Kerry Sullivan-Flock is vying for the position of Circuit Court Judge for Branch 2 of Monroe County. I have known Kerry for nearly 20 years and support her bid for this position. Having worked closely with her, I am aware of her qualifications and experience.

In her capacity as Monroe County Corporation Counsel, she has worked with a variety of people in a wide array of areas. Her work with guardianships and mental commitments has given her insight into the concerns many people face with family-related issues, such as aging or incapacitated family members, as well as helped her realize the importance of looking toward the future for estate planning or long-term care.

She has also addressed juvenile issues as well as child support/paternity establishments and enforcements. Through these areas of her profession, Kerry has seen the difficulties raising children can cause as well as the challenges of a broken marriage or a single-parent home.

Kerry also has experience in small claims and property foreclosures while assisting the county in collecting overdue taxes or unpaid fines and forfeitures. She has represented the county when personal injury claims have been filed against it and in other civil litigations.

While it is not possible to know all phases of the law when you are vying for judgeship, it is a good idea to have some well-rounded knowledge. I feel that Kerry’s experience has allowed her the opportunity to gain and apply that knowledge on many different fronts.

Kerry’s day-to-day life as a wife, mother and working adult has allowed her to meet a lot of people and share experiences from all walks of life. She respects people and understands that any one of us may have an encounter with the court system that can be intimidating and embarrassing. Her plan is to give everyone an opportunity to come into her courtroom and be treated respectfully and honestly so they can leave the courthouse with an understanding of what has transpired.
