Jerry Elwood Frye, 68, of Elroy and formerly of Kendall died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Hess Memorial Hospital, Mauston.

He was born June 21, 1942, to Clayton and Norma (Smith) Frye in Reedsburg, Wis. He was united in marriage to Gloria Thunder, and later, to Rose Wood. Most of Jerry’s life, he hauled canned milk for the Amish and hauled Amish to functions in the area. He loved NASCAR racing, football and spending time with his family. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. He was a loving father and grandfather who always made his grandchildren smile.

He is survived by six sons, Jason (Melissa) of Tomah, Dan (Heather) of Kendall, Timothy of Norwalk, Josh of Kendall, and Todd and Jamie Frye, both of California; three daughters, Tanya of Sparta, Amber of Tomah and Julie of California; nine granddaughters, Makala, Haley, Lindsey, Kalye, Catlynn, Cassidy, Lyric, Jaelynn and Eliana; two grandsons, Trenton and Ethan; two brothers, Danny of Kendall and Donald (Alena) of Wilton; four sisters, Sandy Backeberg of Elroy, Debbie (Dave) Fowler of Elroy, Dawn (Ted) Milne of Kendall and Denise Frye (Bill Carpenter) of Kendall; his former wife and companion of 25 years, Rose Frye; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton, and a brother, Phillip.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Evangelical Free Church in Kendall. Pastor Robert Waschek will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
