Charlotte “Lottie” Van Hecker, 96, of Kendall died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at her home.

She was born Feb. 11, 1914, to Arthur and Mary (Knoll) Kauss in Perkinstown, Taylor County, Wis. She was united in marriage to George Van Hecker on Nov. 28, 1932. He preceded her in death Sept. 9, 1984.

She farmed with her husband for more than 40 years in the town of Glendale. She also worked at Badger Ordnance and the Lutheran Homes in Cataract and Hillsboro for several years.

She enjoyed spending her time playing cards, reading and sitting on her porch in the sun, watching the outdoors. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden, growing flowers.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilton and active in the Ladies Aid and Bible study classes. Lottie was one of the congregation’s oldest members. She was a perfect homemaker, always having something to eat for her visitors. Lottie was a loving grandmother who loved her grandchildren very much.

She is survived by a son, Ray (Colleen) Van Hecker of Warrens; four daughters, Jo Ann (Donald) Hubbard of Hillsboro, Georgenne (Joe) McCracken of Kendall, Marie (Doug) Jacobson of Janesville and Lois (Everett) Reineke of Elroy; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; two sons, Gerald and Arthur; a granddaughter, Jo Marie McCracken; a great-granddaughter, Sasha Tormoen; two brothers, Albert and Roy; and a sister, Sophia.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wilton. Pastor Kathleen M. Wold officiated. Burial was in St. Luke’s Cemetery in the town of Glendale.
