Shirley Irene Seaman, 74, of Colona, Ill., passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, in Silvis, Ill.

The daughter of Clifford and Leona Bowen Miller, Shirley was born July 7, 1936, in Richland Center, Wis. She attended schools in Richland Center and graduated from Hillsboro High School. She married G. William “Bill” Seaman on Sept. 3, 1955, at First Congregational Church in Hillsboro.

Shirley was employed at University of Madison Hospital, serving as a receptionist in the student infirmary. Upon starting a family, she became a homemaker. She attended Christ Church in Colona and was involved in church and Christian organizations. She also enjoyed plants, flowers, crafts, ceramics, needlepoint, word games and traveling around the United States to visit family. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Boomer.

Survivors include her husband, Bill of Colona; her children, Bonita (Michael) Ullrich of Colorado, Vernon (Sarah) Seaman of Oklahoma, Carl (Wendy) Seaman of Georgia, Nancy (E. Kent) Pope of Iowa and Lee (Amanda) Seaman of Illinois; her grandchildren, Sarah, David, Christa, Jason, Nathan, Benjamin, Daniel, Ashley, Jesse, Arielle, Katie, Will, Parker, Jonathan, Amanda, Rebecca, Ethan, Tyler and Katlyn; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Howard Miller and Sidney Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Katie.

Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory Ltd., 6601 38th Ave., Moline, Ill. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow services. For a fund to be established, memorials may be made to the family.
