Beauford B. Breidenstein, 79, of 620 Westbury, No. 10, Delavan, Wis., died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center.
Beauford was a well-known coach and secondary education teacher.
The son of Bernard and Anna (Collins) Breidenstein, he was born Oct. 18, 1931, in Ontario. Beauford was in the Army National Guard from 1950–1957. He received his undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. He later did his graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Beauford married Ruth O. Dyar on Aug. 22, 1952, in La Farge. Both Ruth and Beauford taught in Delavan. Beauford taught at Delavan-Darien High School for more than 34 years. He was the basketball coach and recently elected to the Hall Of Fame for Wisconsin Coaches. He was an active member of the Delavan United Methodist Church, the Wisconsin Teachers Association and the National Teachers Association.
Beauford is survived by his wife, Ruth of Delavan; his mother, Anna Breidenstein of Ontario; two daughters, Rev. Dr. Rychie Breidenstein of Dayton, Ohio, and Julie (Larry) Los of Ontario; one son, Timothy (Jackie) Breidenstein of Darien, Wis.; seven granddaughters; two sisters, Linda and Lucille; and four brothers, Bill, Bobby, Alton and Merril.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard; his sisters, Clara and Arlene; and three brothers, Donald, Blain and Burdette.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 6, at Delavan United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stan Curtis officiating. An additional funeral and visitation were Monday, March 7, at Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church in Ontario, with Rev. Bob Streeter officiating. A funeral luncheon followed the services.
Burial was Monday at Burr Cemetery, the town of Forest, Vernon County.
