Irving D. Ross, 78, of Wilton died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at his home.

He was born July 23, 1932, to Arthur and Mabel (Heine) Ross in Hampshire, Ill. He attended the Elgin High School. He was a member of the United States Navy, serving during the Korea War. He worked as a baker for the State of Illinois from 1957 until his retirement in 1987. He was an avid music lover, listening to all styles of music. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs.

He is survived by four nephews, Karl Williams of Melrose Park, Ill., and Edward Ross Jr., Larry (Vicki) Ross and Robert (Lana), all of Wilton, a niece, Diane (Nicolas) Griseta of Tomah; a niece-in-law, Sue Brueggen of Wilton; a special friend and caregiver, Donna Wilde; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Williams; and four brothers, Alvin, Arthur, Edward Sr. and Ron.

A celebration of Irving’s life will take place from 2–4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 702 Center St., Wilton.
