Eric Anthony Leis, 44, of Ontario passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Tomah Memorial Hospital.
Eric was born to Urban and Erma (Weinke) Leis on May 16, 1969, in Sparta. He attended Southside School until 1975, when his parents moved to Norwalk. Eric then attended Norwalk Elementary School and graduated from Brookwood High School.
Eric loved the outdoors and was a logger all of his life. He designed and made furniture using the natural curves of the wood in his projects.
He married Lori Hansen, and they had two children, Cole and Taylor. They later divorced. He married Ella Hershberger in 2000, and they have two children, Wyatt and Kaitlyn.
Eric is survived by his wife, Ella; his children, Cole, Taylor, Wyatt and Kaitlyn; his mother, Erma; four brothers, Erling (Sandy) Leis, Myron, Jeffrey (Lanita) Leis and Tim (DeDe) Leis; one sister, Virginia (Dale) DeWitt; one grandchild, Kaleb; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Urban; an infant brother, Dale; and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church in rural Ontario. Pastor Bob Streeter will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Ontario is assisting the family with arrangements.
