Gilbert H. Rueckheim, 95, of Tomah and formerly of Ontario entered into eternal life Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Sunset Ridges Estates, Ridgeville.

He was born June 12, 1915, to William and Amelia (Buchholz) Rueckheim in the town of Wellington. Gilbert went to grade school until he was unable to attend due to his failing eyesight. He worked with his brothers on different family farms most of his life. Gilbert had a firm belief in Christ Jesus as his Lord. He lost his eyesight more than 60 years ago and spent most of his time listening to taped sermons and Christian talk radio. He was known as a “prayer warrior” to his family and friends. Gilbert was always eager to help anyone in spiritual need. He was always happy to have visitors and would always end his visits with “many, many thanks.”

He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Walter, Bernard, Hugo, Frank, Art, Alfred and Leonard; and two sisters, Elsie Morley and Frieda Reeck.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Evangelical Free Church, Kendall.  Pastor Robert Waschek will officiate. Burial will be in South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery, town of Wellington. Relatives and friends are invited to call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall, is assisting the family with arrangements.
