Anthony “Tony” F. Wiedl, 81, of Norwalk passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

Tony was born Sept. 17, 1929, to George and Marie Wiedl in Sparta. He grew up outside of Norwalk, on the family farm, where he spent the rest of his life. On Oct. 7, 1958, Tony was united in holy matrimony to Marie Hansen at St. Mary’s Ridge Catholic Church. He was a lifelong farmer who loved his land and took pride in his labor.

Tony was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and, for 42 years, the Norwalk Lions Club. He loved the Green Bay Packers or any sporting event.  He was also an avid hunter. His family and grandchildren were all extremely special to him, and he treasured them very much.

Tony is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie of Norwalk; his children, Bob (Tammy) Wiedl of Sparta, Diane (Chris) Chambers of Wilton, and Linda (fiancé Chris Organ) Byars and Mike (Richelle) Wiedl, both of Norwalk; 10 grandchildren, Melissa and Jesse Johnson, Chris (Carrie) Neal, Jessica, Jason and Jared Chambers, Samantha, Meghan and Rachael Wiedl, and Justine and Mitchel Wiedl; three great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jeramiah Neal and Grace Johnson; his mother-in-law, Margaret Hansen of Sparta; his sisters, Pat Miller of Sparta, Jean Wiedl of Norwalk, Carol (Bill) Heller of Carroll, Iowa, and Dick (Louise) Wiedl of Brice Prairie, Wis.; along with other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Millie Wiedl; his brother, Fritz Wiedl; his father-in-law, Art Hansen; and a granddaughter, Mollie Wiedl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Norwalk. Father Keith Kitzhaber will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Norwalk. Family and friends are invited for visitation at the church from 4–7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
