Philip L. Schaller, 84, of Cashton passed away June 20, 2013. He was born June 1, 1929, to George and Cecelia (Dinger) Schaller in Sparta. 

He was united in marriage to Delores Freemore on Dec. 23, 1960. Phil was the owner and operator of Phil and Delores’s New Danceland Tavern for nearly 50 years. He raised the flag at the tavern every morning at 6 a.m. If you were lucky enough to visit his establishment when Phil was in a music-mood, you would get to see him pull out the “glockenspiel” and entertain the crowd. Everyone was proud to say they knew Phil. 

He is survived by his daughter, Lorie Schaller of Wonewoc; his stepdaughter, Nadine Parr of Hillsboro; his grandchildren, Teale, Heather, Dawn, Chad, Robbie and Ryan; his great-grandchildren; a special daughter-in-law, Jeanice of Sparta; a sister, Paula Schaller of Johnson Creek, Wis.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Cecelia; his wife, Delores; his stepsons, Randy and Vernon; and his sisters and brothers, Marcella, Arnie, Norman, Vera and George. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on St. Mary’s Ridge, Wis. Father Michael Klos will officiate.
