Gary L. Schultz, 66, of Elroy and formerly of Kendall died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his home.
He was born Nov. 9, 1946, to Glenn and Mildred (Grawin) Schultz in the town of Wellington. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a member of Royall High School graduating class of 1964.
He was united in marriage to Alona Jacobson in 1974 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wilton. He was later united in marriage Vicki Schulz.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War. After his service time, he moved to the Janesville area and worked for General Motors for 13 years. He moved back to the Kendall area and owned and operated the Schultz Stalag 13 Bar in Kendall. He worked for the Toro Co. in Tomah until his retirement in 2009.
He enjoyed fishing, especially the fall salmon fishing trips to northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed watching stockcar racing in the Wisconsin Dells and cheering for his favorite driver, his nephew Larry Schotten. He loved watching and cheering for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed visiting and socializing with his family and his extended family at the Dog House Bar. He was a proud grandpa and had a special relationship with his granddaughter Olivia.
He is survived by his two sons, Brian Schultz of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Robert “Bobby” (Natalie) Schultz of Elroy; eight grandchildren, Danny, Brittany, Randy, Brooke, Devon, Gabby, Olivia and Rhys; six brothers, Glenn Jr. (Leailla), Ronald (Linda), Keith, Kenny, Harold and LaDon; four sisters, Lorna Popp, Marlys (Larry) Schotten, Gloria Landowski and Shirley Hanko; six aunts, Alita Grawin, Lila Grawin, Ramona Bader, Dela Mae Schultz, Pauline Schultz and Lorraine Schultz; his godmother, Caroline (Don) Braund; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; an infant sister, Marsha Jean; and many aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kendall. Pastor Conrad Prell will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from 1-2 p.m. Sunday.
