Sharon S. Kledehn, 69, of rural Kendall passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
She was born July 9, 1943, to Daniel and La Verne (Schumann) Young in Hillsboro. She graduated in 1961 from Royall High School and later completed nurse’s training in Madison in 1963. She spent her years working at various nursing homes, caring for the elderly, and many co-workers have said that she did whatever it took to get the job done and to make the residents feel comfortable and at home.
She grew up on a farm and enjoyed milking cows, baling hay and being outdoors over being inside any day of the week. She was an avid reader and loved to watch “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune” and play cards and board games. Sharon especially enjoyed going on afternoon rides with no particular destination in mind, just enjoying the beautiful countryside.
Dogs also were a love of hers, and at times she was known to have three dogs at one time, even if they did not technically start out being hers. She always loved the time she spent with her children and her relatives above anything else.
Sharon is survived by four children, Karoline Renee Kledehn of Minneapolis, Kevin Scot Kledehn of Warrens, Kellie (Ryan) Resac of Reedsburg and Kraig Allen Kledehn of La Crosse; a granddaughter, Brooke Nicole Kledehn of Hillsboro; a sister, Denise Granger of Rochester, Minn.; a dear aunt and uncle, Dean and Ruth Schumann of rural Elroy; and longtime, special friends, Harold and Sandra Baldwin of Ontario. She is further survived by many other cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jerome “Toot” Young; and a brother-in-law, Lamont Granger.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Burr Wesleyan Church, S1728 County Highway V, Hillsboro. Pastor Alan Tripp and Pastor Roger Miller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Cemetery at a later date.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
