Charles F. Murphy, 100, of Kendall died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Heritage Manor in Elroy.
He was born Dec. 22, 1910, to Joseph and Alice (Heesen) Murphy in the Township of Glendale. He was united in marriage to M. Eleanor Miller in 1936 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kendall. She preceded him in death July 1, 2003.
Charles worked for Norton’s Hardware store in Kendall as a plumber and later for his own plumbing business. He farmed in the Kendall area for most of his life. He worked as a painter, plus he plowed snow for the Township of Glendale for many years. Charlie and Eleanor enjoyed traveling and made several trips; some of their more memorial trips were to Europe, Brazil and Hawaii. He enjoyed visiting and playing cards. He was a faithful member and the oldest member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kendall.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Linda) Murphy of Kendall and Francis (Marcella) of Brighton, Mich.; a daughter-in-law, Veousha “Sal” Murphy of Belvidere, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward of Elroy; a brother-in-law, Gerold Miller of Sparta; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; a son, John Charles; two sisters, Ruth Madden and Josephine Murphy; a brother, Harry Murphy; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Blaskey and Mary Ann Gardner; and four brothers-in-law, Leo Jerome Miller, John Miller, Paul Gardner and Leo Blaskey.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will at 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kendall. Father Richard Dickman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 5–8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday. A parish rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
