Kenneth C. Schumann, 79, of Elroy passed away peacefully Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
The youngest of twins, he was born Oct. 15, 1931, to Arthur and Agnes (Gregor) Schumann at Grandview Hospital in La Crosse. He grew to adulthood in the Kendall area, attended Warner Grade School and graduated from the Kendall High School in 1949.
Ken worked hard at farming in the Kendall area. He was married to Carol White, and they later divorced; they had five children. In 1980, Ken married Jackie (Preuss) Johnson; they continued living on the farm until they moved to Elroy in 1994. He then worked for the City of Elroy. Ken enjoyed his family and friends; he was also a sports fan, enjoying the Brewers and Packers.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jackie of Elroy; five children, Kevin Schumann of Worchester, Mass., Colleen (Jay) Lum of Hopedale, Mass., Kerry (Shelly) Schumann of Sparta, Christine Blum (friend Paul) of Olivia, Minn., and Carla Schumann of Holmen, Wis.; five stepchildren, Jeff (Sue) Johnson of Elroy, Jim (Brenda) Johnson of Elroy, Judy (Dennis) Dougherty of Sparta, Jerry Johnson of Elroy and June (Wyatt) Johnson of Ontario; his grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Kyle, Kiara, Ethan, Cassie, Jessica, Zachary, Troy, Tricia, Nikki, Mandi, John, Jacob, Jewel and Allie; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Delores) Schumann of Tomah; and a sister, Joan Connors of Camp Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Keith Schumann; and his brother-in-law, Mike Connors.
Memorial funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at United Methodist Church in Elroy. Friends may call for a time of visitation from 9–11 a.m. at the church. The Picha Funeral Home in Elroy is assisting the family. For online information, go to www.pichafuneralhomes.com.
