Lauris O. Anderson, 85, of Sparta and formerly of Ontario passed away at her home Friday, Oct. 5, 2012.

Lauris was born Dec. 19, 1926, to Harold and Irene (Fex) Ostring in Spirit Falls, Wis. On June 12, 1948, she married Charles “Bud” Anderson. Together they provided ministry for churches in Hillsboro, Ontario and Sparta.

Lauris taught her children and countless Ontario Elementary School children the treasure of reading. Lauris found joy in baking, cooking, impeccably set dinner tables, looking at recipes and sewing Easter and Christmas dresses. She found peace and contentment imparting those skills to her daughters. She also enjoyed her trips up north, especially on beautiful fall days, for scrabble games with her almost sister. Lauris will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Kathy) Anderson, and their children Joseph, Clark and Heidi of West Salem; her daughters, Amy (Ted Tetzlaff) Smith of La Crosse and Renae (Tony) Stekel of Hillsboro; along with many other relatives and dear friends.

Lauris was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles Anderson, and her parents.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church in Ontario, with Pastor Bob Streeter officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Rest Cemetery, Ontario. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 2–5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the church. The family would like to thank Dr. Derrick Woodward and the Franciscan Hospice team for all of their compassionate care and respect that they showed their mother during her illness.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Ontario is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
