kinvera.jpgVera Kin of Pewaukee, Wis., formerly of Waukesha, Wis., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at her home at Kirkland Crossings, at age 94.

She was born near Ontario on Sept. 27, 1917, and was the sixth of seven children born to George and Ethel (nee Abbott) Wallace. She attended grade school in Oil City and high school in Ontario, graduating in 1935.

She married Howard O. Larson on July 18, 1937. They had five children: Arvin (Nancy) Larson and Glenn (Janice) Larson, both of Waukesha, Alan (Sandra) Larson of Fresno, Calif., and Gene (Lynn) Larson of Dousman, Wis. She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Marie Larson. On Oct. 9, 1970, Vera married James J. Kin of Milwaukee, and they lived in Waukesha. Vera was preceded in death by Jim, who died Dec. 11, 1991.

Vera was a member of various groups and organizations at First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, having been a past Matron of the Prairie du Sac Chapter. For 26 years, she was employed by Waukesha County Health and Human Services.

Vera was preceded in death by all six of her siblings. She is survived by her four sons; her grandchildren, Steve (Jodie) Larson of Waukesha, Kurt (Kari) Larson of Oconomowoc, Wis., Greg (Brenda) Larson of Milwaukee, Eric Larson of Portage, Mich., Gary (Julie) Larson of Muskego, Wis., Sally (James) Cisneros of La Crescenta, Calif., Ana Darling of Winnetka, Calif., Elaine (Jose) Hernandez of Glendale, Calif., Travis (Lisa) Larson of Delavan, Wis., and Brandon (Michelle) Larson of Westfield, Wis.; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two stepdaughters; five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Linda Boehm, along with other relatives and friends.

She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. Rev. Dan Schwerin will preside. A second visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 8, from 12 p.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Grace Community Church, 100 Monroe St., Ontario, WI 54651. Rev. Bruce Milleman will preside. Burial will follow the service in Ontario at Hilltop Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to First United Methodist Church (address is above) or to the Golden Bell Ringers.
