Four people were target shooting at a property on County Highway M in rural Wilton on July 2 when one of the bullets traveled into a neighboring property, hitting a 51-year-old Elroy man in the leg, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The 911 call came into the Monroe County Communications Center at about 7:09 p.m. A private vehicle transported the injured male to Tomah Health

Investigating officers determined that the four people were target shooting at a neighboring property without a proper backstop, which allowed the bullets to travel across County Highway M and endanger people on a neighboring property almost 1,000 yards away.

Four suspects were arrested and booked at the Monroe County Jail: Dalton J. Roth, 27, of Tomah; Rolando Mendoza, 25, of Corpus Christi, Texas; Kincade Ewing, 23, of Hartford, Wis.; and Jonathon Ewing, 25, of Tomah.

The Wilton Police Department and Wilton EMS assisted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at the scene
