Wanda Williams of La Farge died Jan. 17, 2016, just a few hours after her 87th birthday, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Shewas born in Monroe County in her grandparents’ farmhouse on Jan. 16, 1929, to Alvin and Leola (DeWitt) Vandervort. Wanda spent her childhood and school days in Richland Center and graduated from high school there.

She married Merwin E. (Mel) Williams on July 26, 1948. They were married 67 years. To this union were born Sally Achenbach (friend Jerry Fischer), Sherry (Don) Hearn and Sara (Steve) Law.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 67 years, three daughters, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her sisters-in-law, Sue Vandervort and Darlene Cooley.

She was predeceased by her parents; a baby brother, Billy Vandervort; her siblings, Gale Vandervort and Bonnie Kelley; and her grandson, Grant.

Wanda was a bookkeeper and office manager for car dealerships in Colorado Springs, Colo., Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Wanda received her end-of-life care from the Sannes Skogdalen Heim Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove. The Clary Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. As per her wishes, there will be a private memorial service at a later date.

Wanda was a wonderful wife and mother. She will be deeply missed.
