Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for May 20–26

Monday, May 20: Michael Thorson of Soldiers Grove was traveling westbound on Highway 82 in the town of Sterling when he hit a cow that was in his lane of travel. Thorson did not report any injuries at the time of the crash, though his pickup truck was towed from the scene. Cole Johnson owned the cow, which did not survive.

Thursday, May 23: An unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on Central Avenue in Coon Valley and struck a legally parked vehicle along the side of the road. The unknown vehicle continued westbound on Central Avenue, and its driver did not report the accident. Debbie Andre of Coon Valley, the owner of the parked vehicle, reported the accident. At this time, the driver of the unknown vehicle has not been located. If you have any information, please contact the sheriff’s officeat (608) 637-2123.

• Nicholas Nelson of La Crosse, on Highway 14, town of Hamburg

• Keith Gilman of De Soto, on Highway 82, town of Franklin

• Adele Foster of Chaseburg, on Highway 162, town of Hamburg
