Monday, April 13: David Salis of Lancaster, Wis., was traveling northbound on Highway 14 in the town of Viroqua when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, and stuck a traffic sign. The vehicle continued down an embankment and went through a field before entering the roadway. No injuries were reported. The vehicle had minor damage.

Saturday, April 18: As Danielle Lambeck of Trempealeau, Wis., was making a U-turn on Highway 35 the town of Genoa, she did not see a vehicle traveling northbound and struck it as she pulled onto the highway. The second vehicle was driven by Thomas Bode of Rock Springs. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles had disabling damage.

The Vernon County Emergency Management has issued a burn ban. This week, 13 burning violations, eight grass/brush fires, and three large-structure fires were reported.

At this time, there shall be no outdoor burning due to the current situation with Covid-19 to keep the fire departments safe from any unnecessary responses. The Wisconsin DNR is not issuing burn permits.
