Two people sustained injuries Saturday after a woman lost control of her vehicle and hit a power pole in the town of Ridgeville, according to Monroe County police.
Nineteen-year-old Jessica Nicolas Velasco was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon westbound on County Highway T, near Mead Avenue, when her vehicle spun 180 degrees, went into a ditch, and struck the power pole. The Monroe County 911 Center received the report of the accident at 12:43 p.m.
Wilton Ambulance Service transported both the driver and her 14-year-old passenger, who had non-life-threatening injuries, to Mayo Health System Sparta Campus.
Police cited sand on the roadway and speed as the causes of the accident.
The Norwalk First Responders and the Norwalk Fire Department also assisted the sheriff’s department, which is investigating the crash.
