I want to give a big shout out to Joe Degenhardt, Jeff Buchholz and Damian Dinger for the help they gave to me and so many others during last week’s storm and its aftermath.

These young men, after making sure their own young families were safe, went above and beyond the callof duty and came to the rescue of other family members and neighbors in the wee hours of Thursday and continued throughout the day and night.

I’m sure there were many good Samaritans in other communities as well who helped their fellow man. I say thank you to you all.

They say every cloud has a silver lining. We’ve had our fair share of clouds these past few weeks, but I truly feel blessed to live in our little corner of the world where the silver linings are the people we live with in our community. I say our future is bright if these gentlemen are any indication of the commitment, hard work and leadership of the next generation.

And on the same note, I’d like to thank the Village of Wilton and the Wilton Lions Club for its cooperative spirit in relocating the Norwalk Fire Department softball tournament to its park when a sinkhole appeared on our right-field foul line and made our field unsafe to play on. A special thank you goes to Patty Dwyer for all her assistance, positive attitude and hard work in making a bad situation a very pleasurable one. It doesn’t get any better than this.
