The following Royall High School alumni were named to the school’s athletic hall of fame in late March. The following biographies of the school athletes were presented at the program.
Tom Masters
Tom participated in football, wrestling and track from 1963–1967.
Tom lettered in football three times and was a two-way starter for two years on two undefeated football teams! He was selected as a first-team all-conference player his senior year on bothoffense and defense. He was selected as a second-team all-conference player as a junior. Tom was also named the MVP his senior year.
Tom lettered in wrestling three times, which coincided with the first three years of the Royall wrestling team’s existence. His freshmen year, the team only wrestled inter-squad. Tom was a three-time conference champion and one of Royall’s first two state qualifiers in wrestling — and in any sport, for that matter. Tom qualified for the state wrestling meet in the first year that Royall was allowed to compete in the tournament series. When Tom qualified, there was no class distinction between school size and only the top two wrestlers advanced from regionals and sectionals.
Tom lettered in track all four years, specializing in the high and low hurdles.
Tom was a very involved student at Royall, taking part in various clubs, winning a citizenship award, and being voted homecoming king in 1966.
Morgan Harris
Morgan participated in volleyball, basketball and softball from 2006–2010.
Morgan was a three-year letter winner in volleyball. She was named honorable mention as a sophomore and first-team all-conference her junior and senior years. Morgan was a four-year letter winner in basketball. She was named honorable mention her freshmen and sophomore years and first-team all-conference both her junior and senior years. When she graduated, she ranked fourth all-time in scoring with 672 points.
