The Village of Norwalk got a great deal on piece of property on Main Street.
The Monroe County Board voted unanimously to sell the building and lot located at 212 Main Street to the village for $1 plus closing costs. Thebuilding had been abandoned for several years and was turned over to the county after it had been foreclosed on for a property tax lein.
According to Supervisor Paul Steele, the building is assessed at $46,700, while the lot is assessed at $5,200. The village’s tenative plans are to use it for its fire department’s needs.
