N-O-W’s April school board meeting will be virtual

By DR. KELLY T. BURHOP | District Administrator

The Covid-19 pandemic has created difficulties with publicly held governmental meetings. Restrictions on public and social gatherings of 10 people and the six-foot distance requirement will mean the April 15 meeting of the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton Board of Education will be held, but with some changes.

For social distancing, the meeting will be held in the high school gymnasium and will be restricted to 10 people physically attending the meeting. The 10 people will be the five board members, three administrators, Sarah Parker from the County Line, and either the board member elect or the newly hired district administrator.

The meeting will be accessible via Zoom. To access the meeting, please email Dr. Kelly T. Burhop at [email protected] by 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15. He will respond to your email with a link to access the meeting and a password. Please contact Dr. Burhop via email by 2 p.m. Monday, April 13, if you need accommodations due to a disability.

At this meeting, the N-O-W Board will be determining elementary staffing for 2020–21. Since the meeting will not have public interaction, please send me any comments or questions you may have on that or any topic on the board agenda by 2 p.m., Monday, April 13. Please send them via the email address listed above. I will make sure all board members receive your comments and questions 48 hours before the start of the meeting if submitted by the deadline.

I know this is not a perfect situation, but school district business must continue while we take precautions to emphasize public safety. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
