Carol Keene and her husband Bill came to the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District on Nov. 19 to construct a mixed-media piece of art with high school art students. The students used joint compound and pressed various items into the surface “to create wonderful textures,” said art teacher Patricia Holte. Later the students added acrylic and metallic paint to finish their art.  The Keenes also worked with elementary art classes in the morning on both days, using watercolor paint.

Carol and Bill reside outside of Chicago.  Carol is a self-taught artist who recently had her art exhibited at the Pump House Regional Art Center in La Crosse.  This art experience was made possible through the Elaine Paul Arts Challenge Grant.
