Letter to the editor: Forward Ontario

By SUE BLANCHARD

Ontario Economic Development Committee

Our community will work with an area artist to create a mural that will be placed on the side of the municipal building on the hill that faces the intersection of Highway 131 and Highway 33. We want to promote this as another tourist attraction for Ontario and the Kickapoo River area. It is a very well-traveled intersection and greets visitors coming to enjoy the area. Ontario will be the first in what is hoped to be an area-wide effort to bring hope and healing to our communities through art.

Grants are being applied for, and fundraising will begin soon. This will be a chance to show visitors our resilience as a community that we can rise and regrow into something even better. It will welcome them to return again and watch us rebuild.

Your input on this project is important. Let us know. You can comment on our Facebook page, “Village of Ontario,” or drop a note at the village office or at the library.

What would you like the subject of the mural to be?

Is there a building that you feel might be more suitable?
