The special Kendall Public Library book-club potluck and movie that was postponed in December due to the weather will now be Monday, Jan. 7.
We will have a potluck meal beginning at 5:30 p.m. Note this is a new start time from previous announcements. The movie, “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society,” will be shown after the meal, at about 6 p.m. The meal and movie will be in the fellowship hall of St. John’s Church.
This event is not limited to book club members. Everyone is welcome to attend and join us for the potluck and movie, or, if you prefer, just come for the movie.
Our regular January movie night will be on Friday, Jan. 18, when we will show the movie “Firelight.” Taking place in a women’s correctional center, Cuba Gooding Jr. stars in this movie about the power of self-sacrifice and the promise of redemption. The movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. at St. John’s Church. There is no charge, and everyone is welcome. There will be free pop and popcorn.

Our next book-club meetings will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the library. We will discuss Jesmyn Ward’s book “Sing, Unburied, Sing: A Novel.” The book is an intimate portrait of three generations of a family and an epic tale of hope and struggle. We will have two meetings — one at 1 p.m. and one at 6 p.m. If you would like to join us, stop in the library to get a book.
