Gjefle: Something we desperately need

By PASTOR MICHAEL T. GJEFLE | Faith Independent Baptist Church, Ontario

James 3:17 — “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”

God has wisdom for us to live by in this world full of challenges. Yet we find it in Him and in His Word, the Bible. Life is full of challenges big and small. Have you found the Source of real wisdom for yourself? He is Jesus Christ, the Savior, the Son of God. Knowing Him as our Savior is the wisest discovery we sinful people will know in thisworld. He alone can save us from our sin and give us forgiveness and the promise of a home eternally in heaven. Then, and only then, we can walk the Christian life by faith.

Yet that walk is not easy, but is often a battle. A caution to all is found in the previous verses, James 3:14–15, that Satan offers his counterfeit wisdom to mankind instead, yet it is defined as earthly, sensual and devilish.

Oh, seek carefully the Lord Jesus Christ with your life. Seek to know Him and then to follow Him and His wisdom that is from above with your life. There is much in this world that we can live without, yet to miss God and His wisdom found only in Jesus Christ is life’s greatest loss. We desperately need Him and His wisdom.
