Growing up on a farm, we learned in our youth how to use things like the hay baler, haybine, sickle mower, tractors, and other farm machinery.

Wise is the farmer who recognizes the value of regular lubrication on his equipment. I wonder how many times my Dad reminded me as we greased a machine that grease (lubrication) was a far better thing than repairs. “Grease is cheap” Dad would say. Regular greasing and lubrication on equipment reduces friction and wear and makes equipment (bearings and moving parts) work better and last longer. You still have breakdowns and repairs, but grease will greatly help!

How wise is the person in every age who recognizes the spiritual maintenance in life and how important it is to truly come to know Jesus Christ as your Savior. The new birth is not optional … Jesus said, “Ye must be born again” (John 3:3).

Have you been born again? Read John 3 for yourself and grasp the reality of God’s salvation found in Jesus Christ. Then, as a believer in Jesus Christ, daily open your Bible and read it. Let it, among other things, lubricate your heart and life. This life has plenty of friction and intensity … have you grasped the reality of how “thy judgments help me” (Psalm 119:175)?

Psalm 119:173 — “Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.”

Farmers/operators chooses to grease their machines regularly. So we choose to use God’s Word, to spend time daily in prayer, and to go to church regularly. Oh, may each of us grasp the blessed truth of God’s Word and daily seek His wisdom and help. Choose to seek God daily and regularly for your life and family. John 3:36 — “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
