The curtain fell early for the Brookwood girls basketball team, as it fell to Luther 52–41 in a Division 4 regional quarterfinal Feb. 19 and ended its season.
Early on at Luther, however, things were going Brookwood’s way. The Falcons built a lead and held it most of the way through the first half. Luther finished with a sizable run in the final minutes to take a 21–16 halftime lead. The lead remained in favor of the home team despite Brookwood’s best efforts in the second half.
Cassidy Green led Brookwood with 14 points, 11 of which were scored in the second half. Noemi Nicolas added 10; Samantha Atteln, 7; Kate Hyatt, 6; Alyssa Ottum, 2; Daisy Hansen, 1; and Hailey Schueller, 1. Luther’s Kaitlin Kennedy finished with a game-high 18.
Brookwood ends the season 4–18 overall and 2–12 in conference play, good enough for a three-way tie with New Lisbon and Wonewoc-Center for sixth place.
