The Brookwood volleyball team ended its season with a 3–0 loss at Elk Mound in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal Oct. 22.
TheFalcons were outscored 25–12, 25–19 and 25–15 by the Mounders.
Madeline Wang and Alyssa Ottum led the offense with three kills each. Ceara Kilfoyle and Faith Wathke combined for nine assists.
Defensively, the Falcons continued to show improvement, as Daisy Hansen paced the team with 11 digs. Also, Ottum had nine; and Brooke Lehnherr, five. Wang, along with Jackie Downing and Cora Brandau, each had three total blocks in the loss.
Brookwood ends the season 11–22 overall under first-year head coach Dawn Waddell.
Around the Scenic Bluffs
Cashton cruised past Mondovi 3–0 in a Division 3 regional quarterfinal, and then dispatched Elk Mound 3–0 in a regional semifinal. The Eagles’ season came to an end Saturday night, when they lost a 3–0 decision at Aquinas.
Necedah lost a 3–0 decision at Edgar in a D3 regional quarterfinal.
Hillsboro won a Division 4 regional title after maneuvering through regional play. The Tigers, who are the top seed in the region, received a first-round bye, and then topped Wonewoc-Center 3–1 before sweeping Lincoln 3–0 Saturday night.
Wonewoc-Center picked up a 3–1 win at Weston to open the tournament, and then lost to Hillsboro 3–1.
Bangor knocked off Gilmanton 3–0, and then topped Alma/Pepin 3–1 before falling to Royall 3–0.
New Lisbon lost a 3–2 decision at Blair-Taylor in a Division 4 regional quarterfinal.
