    Last week I went into the Kendall Public Library, and library director Lynette Vlasak found three good books on wildflowers with color pictures for me to use to try to identify some of the blooms growing along the local roads.

    Despite the fickle weather, spring is making its appearance here in our little corner of Monroe County, and we notice as we travel locally that the tulips are beginning to bloom, as are the wild plums plus the grape hyacinths up the valley at Evelyn Friedl’s.
