Letter to the editor: All judges show bias

By DAVE WESTER | Baraboo, Wis.

A tsunami of laughter swept across Wisconsin in January 2019 in response to Brian Hagedorn’s announcement that he is a candidate for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Hagedorn, an evangelical, was chief legal counsel to Scott Walker, the most politically biased governor in Wisconsin history. Hagedorn said he would not “play politics.” That had Wisconsin citizens rolling on the floor.

Laws are often obscure, and that’s where judges show bias. We see it in every election. Judges who say they don’t have biases are liars.

When asked to name judges who played politics, Hagedorn named only liberal judges, revealing his biases and his dishonesty. Does anyone believe that the conservative judges who made the Citizens United decision or those who enabled severe gerrymandering were not political?

History has shown that people will do anything if they are conned into believing that the orders came from God. Radical Muslim clerics employ that strategy. Scott Walker said God told him to run for president. Presidential press secretary Sarah Sanders claimed that God wants Trump to be president. Evangelicals gave us the most corrupt president in American history. Do we need yet another evangelical using God to manipulate us?

Over the years we have heard of horrific child abuse cases across the country involving foster or adopted children and wondered how the system could fail the children involved.

    I am not a “left-winger” or a “right-winger.” I guess I am somewhere in the middle.

Enclosed is a $38 check to cover a year of the Linda Smith subscription that you lost. Since you’ve never claimed to be anything but a liberal, left-leaning is a fair charge.

Last fall, I watched as almost all trees on one side of the creek in the park in Norwalk were cut down, leaving no shade on the bike trail in that area.

Does anyone really need to point out the irony (to put it kindly) of the Wisconsin Supreme Court electronically hearing arguments and issuing a ruling to kill Wisconsin’s stay-at-home order?

Wow … I had many thoughts as I put my bulletproof vest on for this post. All I can say is that it’s all true, but I know that the shots will come, but maybe the vest will hold up. LOL

I have been subscribing to the County Line for quite a few years, since I have ties to the area with my great-great-grandfather, great-grandfather and grandfather farming and raising their families around Ontario and also still have family living there and in the surrounding area.
