Three Brookwood Junior/Senior High School students were named artists of the month for April.

Stephanie Leis and Whitney Geier created their own parodies of Grant Wood’s famous painting, “American Gothic,” using tempera and watercolor paint. Stephanie (middle painting), a senior, is the daughter of Laurie and Gary Leis of Norwalk. Whitney (last painting), a junior, is the daughter of Janelle Geier Stoikes and Ronald Stoikes of Norwalk.

Erica Olsen, a senior, created a flower and leaf-shaped bowl (top photo) for the Empty Bowls project, using the potter’s wheel and hand building techniques. She is the daughter of Jeff Olsen of Camp Douglas. (Contributed photos)
