Two teenagers were injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 71 in the town of Wilton, according to Monroe County police.

The crash occurred at about 3:25 p.m. just east of Locust Road. Christian D. Brieske-Mendoza, 16, of Norwalk was eastbound on Highway 71 when he lost control of his 2002 Pontiac Grand Am and went into the ditch. His vehicle followed the ditch line, hitting a culvert, which caused the vehicle to vault across a driveway and land in a ditch.

Then the vehicle went into a cornfield, where it came to a stop.

Brieske-Mendoza and his 16-year-old passenger, Shauna L. Erickson of Westby, were transported by Wilton Ambulance to Tomah Memorial Hospital, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
