Wilton Public Library to host ‘book-and-treat’ for Halloween

By RACHEL CONNER

Wilton Public Library director

What’s even better than trick-or-treat? Book-and-treat! That’s right! This October at the Wilton Public Library, kids can check out books and receive a bag of Halloween treats! Happy reading — and treating! Call the library to make a browsing appointment or schedule a curbside pickup.

Autumn is a terrific time to begin a reading challenge! Challenges for all ages are available online at https://wilton.beanstack.org/.

• “Ten to Try,” which is for ages 15-plus, is a challenge to read a book in each of 10 different categories. Read and review books while broadening your reading horizons. Earn the book of your choice and a gift card to The Baker’s Table in Tomah to get a cozy beverage to enjoy while reading your newly earned book!

• “Bookworms Reading Challenge” is for kids from 5–14 years old. Every bookworm needs their brain food! Feed your mind by tracking the books you read this fall to earn badges. Read for 10 hours between September and November to earn a reward prize.

• For teens, we offer “100 Books Before College.” Keep track of everything you read online to earn points toward incentives and a Barnes & Noble gift card at the completion of this monumental challenge.

Our new book return is now open! Please use the book return for all library returns. The book return is open all the time, so you can return items whenever you like. (Library materials will continue to be quarantined between patrons per safety guidelines.)

Curbside pickup is available during all regular Wilton Public Library hours. Orders must be called or emailed ahead. We are happy to help you find books, magazines, and movies.

Give us a call if you would like to stop by! The Wilton Public Library offers appointments during its regular hours. Masks are required, and please sanitize your hands after arrival. Browsing appointments can be made for 15 minutes. Computer appointments can be made for up to one hour for essential work only. One patron/family will be scheduled at a time. This service is subject to change at any time. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you need help or have questions, call (608) 435-6710 or email wiltonlibrary@wrlsweb.org.
