The Ontario Public Library is one of seven public libraries in Vernon County participating in the sixth annual Vernon County Reads program!
The featured author for 2022 is Sue Berg. We encourage you to read Sue’s books this summer and participate in a book discussion at the library on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. The final event of Vernon County Reads will be Thursday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Hillsboro Community Center. Sue Berg will speak about her mystery series during the event. She also will have her books for sale, including the third book in the “Jim Higgins” mystery series.

You’re invited to our annual Library Hat Luncheon! Wilmer Pearson will host the luncheon on July 19, July 20, and July 21. The meal will be served at 12 p.m. This year’s menu includes your choice of hamburger soup or cream of broccoli soup with a side of classic Waldorf chicken salad and fresh fruit and a dessert of lemon torte. Youth STEM programming with Monroe County UW-Extension starts this week. Join us for some STEM fun as we learn about science, water, and the ocean. At 1 p.m. Monday, July 18, learn about ocean pollution and ways to help.

Our annual summer reading program wrapped up at the end of June. Participants were tasked with completing an activity bingo card. We had seven kids submit their blackout bingo cards for a chance to win a prize. The prize winners can pick up their prize at the library.
