If you are looking for a good book to read, Josie Churchill wrote some many years ago about this area. We have enjoyed reading her book, “Among the Hills.” In this book, she has short stories about many things. One is about the Vernon County Fair around the year 1910 or so. One of the favorite attractions that year was a horned rooster. To quote her, “The thick, rosy comb of a young rooster was cut open, and then the fused part of a wishbone was inserted and the comb sewn shut. It soon healed over into a horned rooster.”
What would happen if someone did that today? Likely today such a thing would lead to someone facing an animal cruelty charge. Yet in that day, the killing of unborn humans was likely unheard of. Often having children was much more dangerous, as most women had their babies at home without the professional care available in recent years. In her books, she mentions some deaths of mothers and infants in childbirth.
Somehow our moral ideals have drastically changed in our day to concern for animals yet no concern for the most innocent of all — unborn children. It seems that in our current election cycle, abortion is a very relevant issue. Since the Roe vs. Wade decision, more than 60 million babies have been legally put to death in the name of choice in America. What could be more important of all human rights than the right to life?
Having watched all my children be born and now my grandchildren enter this world, there is only one way to get here, and that is through the womb of a mother. The womb of a mother used to be a safe place; sadly, that is not always the case today.
Please, as you vote thisyear, consider those who have no voice and need our help — the unborn. How ironic that often the loudest voices for killing unborn babies are those who support the animal rights movement. In the past century, we have made some great technological advances, yet we seem to have lost our decent sense of morality to where the killing of unborn children has been even called women’s healthcare. No, it is not health care, but it is the taking of the life of a human being.
Please consider those whom you vote for — vote Republican. Joe Biden and his party would allow abortions up to the time of birth, which is very wrong.
To those who are strict mask wearers and yet are pro-choice, I recently saw this statement, “If you believe in the science of wearing a mask but not the science of life beginning at conception, then you don’t believe in science, you believe in a political ideology.”
Thanks for listening.
