The warmer temperatures have arrived! Finally!
The St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aid always meets on the first Thursday of every month.
Edwin Wendland’s birthday was inadvertently omitted from the April newsletter. Lillian Wendland always selects April to celebrate her January birthday so Ed can join in on the fun. Arlene Burch will celebrate her May 16 birthday on Friday, May 11. Other May birthdays include Margaret Leis and Wally Zirk, who share the same birthday on May 8, Anna Fritz on May 17, and Larry Neitzel on May 28. We hope they all have a happy birthday!
We will host a farewell party for Cathy Smialek on Monday, May 7. We wish her well on her new adventure. She will be missed.
Our group of senior instrumental musicians will again entertain us Friday, May 18. In April, we had a surprise visit from Jim Olson of rural Wilton, a very talented musician who plays with the Tor Eness band. As always, we have a great time, and I’m sure you would, too, so please try to join us for lunch. They play bluegrass and country. We eat lunch at about 11:30 a.m., but the musicians start playing around 10 a.m., so come early.
The Monroe County Senior Celebration will be at the Barney Center in Sparta on Thursday, May 24. There will be a fabulous meal as well as entertainment for the afternoon. Please contact the meal site by Friday, May 11, if you would like to attend. The meal site will be closed that day.
The “ARDC Connect” is a Monroe County senior newsletter published every month. The newsletter, as well as the monthly menu, can be picked up at the meal site, the library or Farmers & Merchants Bank in Kendall. You may also call the meal site at 463-7622.
The Kendall food pantry has moved to the lower level at the old Kendall Elementary School. The new hours are Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Due to the increased number of participants, the food-pantry shelves are getting empty. Please donate freshly baked items and/or canned goods. Cash donations would also be appreciated. Misty Valley Thrift Shop also is located at the lower level of the Kendall School.
Remember to call the meal site a day ahead if you would like to join us for lunch. We do appreciate our regular participants, but would love to see some more new faces.
