Julie Ann Hemmersbach, 66, of rural Norwalk, Wis., passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026.  Julie was born April 29, 1959, to Joe and Ardella (Schreier) Leis.

Julie graduated from Cashton High School in 1978. She and Dennis Hemmersbach were high school sweethearts. They were united in holy matrimony on Aug. 26, 1978, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton.  One year later, they purchased a farm across the road from where Dennis grew up.  Julie and Dennis made this their home where they loved raising their three children, Nathan, Misty and Cory. Their children grew up on the farm, as she did, helping out with day-to-day chores.

She truly loved farm life and everything that came with it. She enjoyed working alongside her husband, kids, and later her grandkids. Julie’s house was always full, her kitchen even more so — she cooked like she was feeding an army and was an amazing cook and baker. Julie loved having children around, whether it was her own, her grandchildren, or neighborhood kids she happily babysat whenever she could. Nothing brought her more joy than her children, and when grandchildren came along, her heart and her world felt complete. She was quiet, hardworking, loving, and sweet, and she made everyone around her feel cared for just by being herself.

Julie loved spending time with her family and friends and rarely passed up an opportunity to play volleyball anywhere in the area. She was incredibly crafty, creating special blankets for each of her grandchildren and photo scrapbooks filled with treasured memories just for them. In her “spare time,” she enjoyed working on puzzles and was also a talented seamstress, always ready to mend the boys’ barn clothes whenever they needed it.

Julie is survived by a son, Nathan Hemmersbach, and his children, Lacey, Lucas and Logan, all of Norwalk; a daughter, Misty (Casey) Schroeder, and their children, Shelby, Donald and Reid of Sparta; a son, Cory (Shayla) Hemmersbach and their children, Hazel, Jordy and Porter of Leon; her siblings, David (Tammy) Leis, Alan (Sue) Leis, Randall (Brenda) Leis, and Pamela Jean (Todd) Erickson; along with many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends.

Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, in February 2024; her parents, Joe and Ardella Leis; Dennis’s parents, LaVern and Cecilia Hemmersbach; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Sue Hemmersbach.
