August 18, 1940 — January 19, 2026
Daryll Amberg, 85, passed away on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Wis.
Daryll was born on Aug. 18, 1940, the son of Lawrence and Berget (Benson) Amberg. He graduated from Elroy High School and later married his high school sweetheart, Carla Greene, on June 11, 1960, in Elroy, Wis. The couple shared 65 years of marriage.
Daryll attended the University of Wisconsin–Platteville, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education with a focus on industrial arts. He later returned to Platteville during the summers to earn his master’s degree. He began his teaching career in Iola, then taught in Hillsboro for several years before settling in Waupun, where he spent the remainder of his life.

In Waupun, Daryll served as a Tech Ed teacher, where he found his true passion for teaching and hands-on learning. He built numerous houses in Waupun and took great pride in sharing trade skills and practical knowledge with his students. He taught driver’s ed and coached wrestling and football. In addition, he officiated football, wrestling, and volleyball. He retired from teaching in 1997.
Never one to sit still, Daryll worked summers driving Ducks in Wisconsin Dells and painting houses. He seemed to always be working on something and rarely took a summer off. Over the years, he built more than 100 deer stands with his family. He was also known to have popped the best popcorn.
Daryll enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the family cottage, spending the winter months in Padre Island, Texas, and traveling. He loved woodworking and building furniture, cedar chests, deer plaques, and countless projects; he simply loved to build. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, especially weekly poker games with friends, and spending time with his family.
Daryll is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carla Amberg; his children, Jeff (Virginia) Amberg and Robyn (Tony) Amberg-Kienast; four grandchildren, Brodie Amberg, Gina (Justin) Revalee, Cody Amberg, and Hadley Schwefel; three great-grandchildren, Greyson, Maeven, and Jovie Revalee; three step-grandchildren, Katrina (Trek), Derek and Kendra; and three step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Donald (Donna) Amberg; his brother-in-law, Michael (Nancy) Greene; his sister-in-law, Karen Greene; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dale Amberg; his brother-in-law, Ronny Greene; and other relatives.
