Charles D. “Chuck” Huschka, 88, of Elroy, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at home. He was born on Nov. 4, 1937, in Elroy to Albert and Clara (Miller) Huschka. He grew up in the Elroy area. He attended grade school at Fowler Prairie-Sherman in Elroy. Then he was a graduate of the Elroy (Hilltoppers) High School, in the class of 1955.

Then it was off to Alaska the Last Frontier, where he was hired as a brakeman on the Alaskan Railroad until 1958. He returned to Rockford, Ill., where he was employed at Barber Coleman Company as a machinist. In 1961, Chuck returned to Elroy, Wis., to own and run Chuck’s Cities Service until 1965. He then was employed by Gilbert Lee, owner of Lee Gas Company, which became Elroy Gas Company in 1966. Then in 1993, Elroy Gas Company was sold to Madison Gas and Electric. Chuck continued working as a Supervisor for Madison Gas and Electric until he retired in March 2000.

On Aug. 29, 1959, Chuck married his high school sweetheart Glenda Gail Garwy at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elroy, Wis. They were blessed with two children, Charles and Camilla. They were married for 64 years before her passing in 2024.

In 1996, together they bought a 120-acre farm and became farmers raising black angus and raising crops. They were both avid bowlers, trap shooters and hunters. The freezer never seemed to empty.

Chuck is survived by his son, Charles A. “Chuckie” Huschka; daughter, Camilla E. “Cam” Huschka (significant other, David Gerke); grandson, Charles W. “Charlie” (wife, Greta) Huschka; special nephew, Anthony “Tony” (wife, Wanda) Macomber, and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Clara (Miller) Huschka; wife, Glenda (Garwy) Huschka; five sisters and brothers-in-law, sister, Veronica (husband, William Maloney), sister, Kathleen (husband, Robert Winker), sister, Mary (husband, Oscar Hackbart), sister, Theresa (husband, Gerald Hart), sister, Irene (husband, Albert Puhl); in-laws, Tony and Maxine (Severson) Garwy; and sister-in-law, Sandra Garwy.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elroy, with a time of visitation from 10–11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Elroy.
