Two workshops will be featured at the Maplewood Quilt Show in Viroqua on Saturday, Oct. 10.
• 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. — Elli Molstad will share “Quilt Stories.” Molstad, a long-arm quilter, professional quilt appraiser, quilt-maker and teacher in the La Crosse and Holmen area, also is available for a limited number of quilt appraisals by appointment only. The cost for an appraisal is $35, and appointments can be made by calling Inga Gerber at 637-6358.
• 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. — The second workshop will be “What to do with Grandma’s Old Linens” by Mary Green. Green and her sister had collected vintage linens. They really didn’t know what they were going to do with them until they visited an art show at the University of Mississippi and saw them made into little dresses and pinafores. In the past three years, Green has made more than 100 dresses. She uses embroidered pillowcases and dresser scarves, crocheted doilies, tablecloths, napkins and old lace to make her creations.
The quilt show will include more than 100 quilts again this year. The Vernon County Piecemakers Quilter’s Guild will also have a silent auction of quilted items. Admission to the show is $3 and includes the two workshops. Lunch is available. Proceeds of the show and a quilt raffle will go to purchase a new steam serving table for Maplewood Terrace Assisted Living Apartments.
The show is at Maplewood Terrace, 620 Garfield Ave., and runs from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
